Target group  Students studying the Lithuanian language, people of Lithuanian origin, and others.
Entry requirements For scholarship applicants:

  • All candidates:
    • cannot have higher Lithuanian language proficiency level than C1;
    • cannot apply to more than one institution organising the same courses. Applications submitted to multiple institutions will be automatically rejected;
    • can be awarded with tuition fee waivers or scholarships maximum 3 times.
  • Candidates from foreigners category:
    • must be students, lecturers or researchers at higher education or research institutions abroad (except citizens of Russia and Belarus and citizens of other countries who are studying or working at a Russian or Belarusian higher education or research institution).
  • Candidates from foreigners of Lithuanian origin category:
    • must be foreigners of Lithuanian origin and meet one of the following requirements: be members of Lithuanian community abroad OR be students, lecturers or researchers at higher education or research institutions abroad (except for students, lecturers, or researchers from Russian and Belarusian higher education and research institutions).

Short description Each summer (July-August) and winter (January), Vytautas Magnus University offers an intensive (1 month) Lithuanian Language and Culture Course for people of all ages who want to learn the Lithuanian language or improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Lithuanian. During the course students are offered a comprehensive programme consisting of Lithuanian language classes, sociocultural lectures, workshops, discussions, movie evenings, sightseeing tours and excursions to learn the language and deepen the knowledge about Lithuanian lifestyle and culture. Qualified teachers and professors head the programme.
Course uniqueness  This intensive course enables participants to enhance their Lithuanian language skills while gaining valuable cultural experience. Beyond language instruction, the programme offers a rich and engaging cultural component. The interactive language classes are led by experienced professionals, ensuring both effective learning and active participation.
Aim  To gain and/ or improve Lithuanian language and culture knowledge and skills.
Learning outcomes 
  • Reach the targeted Lithuanian language proficiency level (e.g. progression from A1 to A2 by the end of the course);
  • Engage meaningfully with Lithuanian cultural content beyond the classroom.

  • Daily Lithuanian language classes from morning to afternoon
  • Sociocultural classes, workshops, and trips to museums in the afternoon
  • Trips on weekends
